Ian Dunn first qualified as a mediator in 1992 when he completed the extended LEADR course.
Before his appointment as CEO of the Law Institute and as a partner at Wisewoulds, he handled over 150 mediations in a wide variety of matters. These matters included medical and legal professional negligence, wills and estates, farming disputes, contractual disputes and various personal injury matters whether under legislation or at common law. Further, Ian has handled many of the largest medical negligence matters in Victoria and has also represented the directors of the Pyramid Group in multiple hearings and mediations. During this time Ian also acted as Arbitrator on a number of occasions.
Whilst at the Law Institute he was able to maintain his involvement in mediations, handling a further 70 matters before resigning from the LIV in 2002.
Since then, while serving as Chair of the Victorian Commission for Gambling Regulation and Ombudsman,he has continued to mediate in a wide range of matters both in Melbourne and major country towns. For 3 years he was a part time mediator at VCAT and has also conducted consultancies and inquiries for a number of semi-government and private organisations. Since 2009 he has been a Nationally Accredited Mediator and currently serves as Adjunct Professor in Law at Latrobe University.
